Do EuroLeague players get paid as much as NBA players?
While EuroLeague basketball has its own passionate fanbase and elite players, the salaries of its athletes can't compare to the astronomical sums that NBA players can earn.
According to Forbes, the average NBA player salary for the 2020-2021 season was $7.7 million. In contrast, EuroLeague salaries range from around $65,000 to $2.3 million. Only a select few EuroLeague players make over $1 million a year, and many are paid significantly less than that.
One reason for the salary disparity is the difference in revenue between the two leagues. The NBA generates billions of dollars in revenue each year, largely due to its massive television deals and sponsorship agreements. EuroLeague, while still a popular league, simply can't match that level of revenue.
However, EuroLeague players can still make a good living playing basketball, and many are able to parlay their success into even more lucrative deals overseas or in the NBA. And for some players, the opportunity to compete in Europe and travel the world is worth more than a massive paycheck.
