To add a column in Excel using the ALT + H + O + C shortcut, follow the steps below:

  1. Select the column to the right of where you want to add the new column. You can do this by clicking the column letter at the top of the column.
  2. Press the Alt key on your keyboard and then release it. You should see key tips appear on the ribbon at the top of Excel.
  3. Press the H key to activate the Home tab of the ribbon.
  4. Press the O key to activate the Insert drop-down menu.
  5. Press the C key to select the Insert Columns option.
  6. A new column will be inserted to the left of the selected column.
