Jet engines are used in aircraft to propel them forward by creating a forward thrust. There are various types of jet engines, but the most commonly used one is the turbojet engine.

Turbojet engines work by sucking in air at the front of the engine using a fan, which compresses it and mixes it with fuel. The mixture is then ignited, causing it to explode and expand rapidly, creating a high-pressure jet of hot gases that shoots out the back of the engine. This creates a reaction force in the opposite direction, which propels the aircraft forward.

The turbojet engine has been refined over the years, leading to the development of other types of jet engines such as the turbofan, which is commonly used in modern commercial aircraft. The turbofan engine works in a similar way to the turbojet, but has an additional fan at the front that generates more thrust by pushing more air through the engine.

The efficiency and power of jet engines have made air travel much faster and more convenient, and they continue to be an important technology in the aviation industry.
