The reign of Cleopatra, the last Pharaoh of ancient Egypt, lasted for approximately 22 years. She ruled from 51 BC until her death in 30 BC. Cleopatra first ascended to the throne at the age of 18, alongside her younger brother Ptolemy XIII, and together they co-ruled Egypt until their relationship soured and Cleopatra was forced to flee. She later returned with the help of Julius Caesar, and after his assassination, she aligned herself with Mark Antony, with whom she had a romantic relationship.

Cleopatra was known for her intelligence, beauty and political savvy. She spoke several languages and was well-educated, having studied mathematics, philosophy, and astronomy. During her reign, she maintained amicable relationships with the Roman Empire and was able to expand Egypt's territory. She was a prolific builder, and several temples and monuments were constructed during her reign. Cleopatra was also known for her love affairs, most famously with Julius Caesar and Mark Antony, and her death is believed to have been by suicide using an asp.
