How long is a lunar day?
A lunar day is the period of time it takes for the moon to complete one full rotation on its own axis relative to the sun. Interestingly, a lunar day is not the same length as a day on Earth. It lasts for about 29.5 Earth days or 708.7 hours.
Because the moon takes almost the same amount of time to rotate on its axis as it does to revolve around the Earth, the same side of the moon always faces the Earth. This means that it takes roughly the same amount of time for the sun to rise and set on the moon's surface, resulting in a lunar day that is almost 30 times longer than a day on Earth.
