The number of internet users has been steadily increasing over the past decade, with a global penetration rate of just over 35% in 2010. The number of internet users increased by over 330 million in 2021 alone, which represents a growth rate of 7.2%.
The Asia-Pacific region has the highest number of internet users, accounting for around 2.4 billion users or 49% of the total. Europe has the second-highest number of internet users, followed by Africa, the Americas, and then Oceania.
