There are eight planets in the solar system. In order from the sun, they are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

The International Astronomical Union (IAU) defined the term 'planet' in 2006, which excluded Pluto from the list of planets in the solar system. Pluto is now classified as a 'dwarf planet'.
