What are the three types of plate tectonics boundaries?

The three types of plate boundaries are divergent, convergent, and transform. Divergent boundaries occur when two tectonic plates move away from each other, resulting in the formation of new crust. Convergent boundaries occur when two plates move towards each other and collide. Depending on the type of crust involved, subduction or mountain building can occur. Transform boundaries occur when two plates slide past each other horizontally, neither creating nor destroying crust. These boundaries are also known as transform faults.

Convergent boundaries are found along subduction zones, where oceanic crust is subducted beneath continental crust, and along collision zones, where two continental plates collide.
• Transform boundaries occur when two tectonic plates slide past each other horizontally. Transform boundaries are found along faults, where the plates grind against each other.

The type of plate boundary that exists at a particular location determines the type of geological activity that will occur there. For example, divergent boundaries are associated with volcanic activity, convergent boundaries are associated with earthquakes and mountain building, and transform boundaries are associated with earthquakes.
