What country hosted the 2014 Winter Olympics?
The 2014 Winter Olympics, officially known as the XXII Olympic Winter Games, were held in Sochi, Russia from February 7 to February 23, 2014. Sochi, a city located on the coast of the Black Sea, beat out Salzburg, Austria and Pyeongchang, South Korea to win the bid to host the games.
The games featured 98 events in 15 sports, including new events such as snowboard slopestyle and women's ski jumping. Russia finished atop the medal standings with a total of 33 medals, followed by Norway and Canada.
The 2014 Winter Paralympics were also held in Sochi from March 7 to March 16, featuring 72 events in 5 sports.
