What is the biggest animal in the world?

When it comes to size, the biggest animal in the world is the blue whale. Blue whales are an endangered species of marine mammals that can grow up to 100 feet (30 meters) long and weigh as much as 200 tons (181 metric tonnes), making them the largest animal ever to have lived on Earth.

The blue whale's size is truly awe-inspiring. For example, a blue whale's tongue alone can weigh as much as an elephant, and its heart is about the size of a car. Despite their immense size, blue whales feed almost exclusively on small shrimp-like creatures called krill. It's estimated that an adult blue whale can consume up to 40 million krill in a single day.

Other large animals that are often compared to the blue whale in size include African elephants, which can weigh up to 14,000 pounds (6,350 kilograms), and the ostrich, which can grow up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and weigh up to 350 pounds (158 kilograms). However, neither of these animals comes close to the sheer size of the blue whale.
