The highest point in Deschutes County, Oregon is South Sister, also known as Charity, which is a stratovolcano located in the Cascade Range of the Pacific Northwest. With an elevation of 10,358 feet (3,157 m), South Sister is the third tallest mountain in Oregon and one of the Three Sisters, a group of volcanoes including North Sister and Middle Sister. South Sister is located in the Deschutes National Forest and is a popular destination for hikers and climbers.
There are several routes to the summit of South Sister, ranging from challenging technical climbs to more moderate hikes. The most popular trailhead is located at Devil's Lake and the hike to the summit is approximately 11 miles (18 km) round-trip, with an elevation gain of over 5,000 feet (1,500 m).
