What is the loudest animal on Earth?

The loudest animal on Earth is the sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus). They can produce clicks and whistles that can reach up to 230 decibels (dB), which is the loudest sound produced by any animal. To give you an idea of how loud this is, a jet engine produces about 150 dB at takeoff, and a loud rock concert measures around 120 dB. The sperm whale's loud clicks are used for echolocation to find prey in the deep ocean.

Interestingly, the loudest land animal is the howler monkey (Alouatta genus). They can produce vocalizations that can reach up to 140 dB, which can be heard up to three miles away in a dense forest. These vocalizations are used to communicate with other members of their troop.
