The name of the historic mansion in Woodstock, Vermont is the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park. The mansion was built by George Perkins Marsh, a lawyer, diplomat, and scientist, in 1805. In 1869, the mansion was purchased by Frederick H. Billings, a lawyer, financier, and railroad builder, who expanded and renovated it in the French Second Empire style. In 1954, the mansion and surrounding lands were acquired by Laurance Spelman Rockefeller and his wife, Mary French Rockefeller, who continued to expand and improve the property. In 1992, the mansion and lands were donated to the National Park Service, becoming the only national park in Vermont.
