What is the Night's Watch and what is their mission?
The Night's Watch is a military order in George R.R. Martin's series "A Song of Ice and Fire" and the TV adaptation "Game of Thrones". The Watch is composed of exiles, unwanted men, and criminals who take an oath to guard the Seven Kingdoms against threats from the north. Their mission is to defend the realm from wildlings, who live beyond the Wall, and the mysterious creatures known as White Walkers. The Wall is a massive fortification made of ice and magic that separates the Seven Kingdoms from the wild and dangerous lands beyond.
The Night's Watch was once a prestigious organization, but over time it has lost much of its power and influence. In the show and books, Jon Snow is a member of the Night's Watch and plays a pivotal role in defending the realm against the White Walkers.
