The Pyramid of Djoser is located in Saqqara, Egypt, and is the oldest known stone pyramid in Egypt. It was built for the Pharaoh Djoser during the 27th century BC by his architect Imhotep. The pyramid was originally intended to be a simple mastaba, but Imhotep decided to add more levels, resulting in a six-tiered structure that stands 62 meters tall.

The Pyramid of Djoser is significant for several reasons. First, it represents a major innovation in architectural engineering. The use of stone instead of mud-brick allowed for much greater stability and durability, and the addition of multiple levels created a much more impressive and imposing structure. Second, the pyramid marked the transition from the use of mastabas as tombs to the use of pyramids. Third, it is believed that the pyramid served as a model for the construction of later pyramids, including the famous Pyramids of Giza.
