What is the relationship between the Doctor and the Silence?
The Silence is a religious order of alien species in the TV series Doctor Who, who are determined to kill the Doctor. Their relationship spans through several seasons of the show, with the Silence appearing in important episodes. The Doctor first encounters the Silence in the sixth season when he is trying to find out who is responsible for blowing up the TARDIS. It is revealed that the Silence caused the explosion and are responsible for numerous events, including the assassination of President Nixon.
