The Amtrak Carolinian is a passenger train service that runs between New York City and Charlotte, North Carolina. The train is named for the Carolinas, which it passes through on its route.
Starting in New York City, the train passes through several cities including Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington D.C., before entering North Carolina. Once in North Carolina, the train stops at several cities, including Rocky Mount, Raleigh, Cary, Durham, and Greensboro, before arriving at its final destination, Charlotte.
The Carolinian covers a distance of approximately 704 miles (1,131 kilometers) and takes around 12 hours to complete its full route. The train runs once daily in each direction.
