What is the Two Towers?
The Two Towers is the second book in J.R.R. Tolkien's epic fantasy novel The Lord of the Rings. The novel was originally published in 1954 and is set in the fictional world of Middle-earth. The book is divided into two parts, which follow separate storylines that eventually converge towards the end of the book.
The first storyline follows the members of the Fellowship of the Ring after they are split up at the end of the first book, The Fellowship of the Ring. Frodo and Sam are on a mission to destroy the One Ring in the fiery depths of Mount Doom, while Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli pursue the Uruk-hai who have captured their friends Merry and Pippin.
The second storyline focuses on the wizard Gandalf and the people of Rohan as they prepare for war against the evil forces of Saruman. The Two Towers is a tale of epic battles, heroic deeds, and the struggle between good and evil in a world filled with magic and wonder.
