The largest flying bird species by wing area and wingspan is the albatross with the wandering albatross having the largest wingspan of any living bird.

The wandering albatross has a wingspan of up to 11.5 feet (3.5 meters). The other bird species that belong to the same family as wandering albatross and have large wingspan are Royal Albatross, Southern Royal Albatross, and Antipodean Albatross.

Despite its large size, the wandering Albatross is an excellent flyer because it can glide for long distances without flapping its wings. This has made it possible for it to travel up to 10,000 miles (16,000 kilometers) on a single journey, crossing entire oceans without landing.

In addition, the albatrosss consume the small animals present on the ocean surface which makes up 80% of their total diet.
