When should I start introducing solid foods to my baby's diet?

As a general rule, babies should start solid foods when they are around 6 months old. At this point, most babies are able to sit up, control their head and neck, and have lost their extrusion reflex (which pushes food out of their mouth).

It's important to introduce solid foods slowly, one at a time, and to watch for signs of allergy or intolerance. Start with single-grain cereals such as rice or oatmeal, and gradually introduce pureed fruits and vegetables.

It's also important to note that solid foods should not replace breast milk or formula entirely in a baby's diet until around 12 months of age. Breast milk or formula should still be the primary source of nutrition during the first year.
