Which country is home to the world's largest cave?
The world's largest cave is located in Vietnam. Hang Son Doong cave, also known as Mountain River Cave, is situated in the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, in Quang Binh province, central Vietnam. It was discovered in 1991 by a local man, but only became known internationally in 2009 after a group of British scientists from the British Cave Research Association conducted a survey in the area.
Hang Son Doong cave is over 5.5 miles long, with a width of 650 feet and a height of 500 feet. Its largest chamber is big enough to house a Boeing 747 aircraft. The cave system contains a river, a jungle, and many limestone formations, making it a popular destination for speleology enthusiasts and tourists alike.
