Legolas is a character from J.R.R. Tolkien's epic fantasy novel The Lord of the Rings. He is a Sindarin Elf of the Woodland Realm, also known as Mirkwood, and is the son of Thranduil, the Elvenking. Legolas is part of the Fellowship of the Ring, a group of nine beings who set out to destroy the One Ring, which is the source of power of the dark lord Sauron.
