Who is the Director, and what is her connection to John Wick?

The Director is a character in the John Wick film series, portrayed by actress Anjelica Huston. She is the leader of the Ruska Roma, a powerful criminal organization with a long-standing history and a vast network. Her connection to John Wick, the film's protagonist, is revealed in the third installment of the franchise, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum.

The Director and John Wick have a past together, as they were both part of the same criminal underworld. John was once a member of the Ruska Roma and had sought the Director's help in order to leave the organization. In exchange for her assistance, John had made a blood oath with the Director, which is a promise to carry out any task she assigns him.
