Who were the first humans to walk on the moon?

The first humans to walk on the moon were Neil Armstrong and Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin, both members of the Apollo 11 mission. On July 20, 1969, they landed their lunar module, the 'Eagle,' on the surface of the moon, while their colleague Michael Collins orbited above in the command module.

Armstrong famously declared 'That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind,' as he became the first person to step onto the moon's surface. Aldrin soon followed, and the two of them spent over two hours outside the lunar module, collecting samples, planting the American flag, and conducting experiments. They then returned to the lunar module and, after a total of 21 hours and 36 minutes on the moon, lifted off and rejoined Collins in orbit.
