Can cats really see color or are they colorblind?

Cats are not completely colorblind, but their color vision is limited compared to humans. While humans have three types of color receptors in their eyes, cats only have two. This means that they can see some colors, but not as many as humans can.

Cats are dichromatic, which means they see colors on a spectrum of blue and green. They cannot distinguish between red, yellow, and orange colors very well. To a cat, these colors would appear as shades of blue or gray.

Despite their limited color vision, cats have an excellent sense of sight overall. They are able to see in low light conditions better than humans, and they are also able to detect movement much more quickly than humans can.
