How do I visit the Wat Traimit in Bangkok?
Wat Traimit is a popular tourist destination in Bangkok, Thailand, and home to the world's largest solid gold Buddha statue. Located in the Chinatown district of Bangkok, the temple is easy to reach by public transportation.
Getting There
The temple is accessible by both the MRT subway and the BTS Skytrain. For the MRT, get off at the Hua Lamphong station and take Exit 1. From there, it's just a 10-minute walk to Wat Traimit. Alternatively, take the BTS Skytrain to the Saphan Taksin station and transfer to the Chao Phraya Express Boat. Get off at the Ratchawong Pier, and Wat Traimit is a short walk from there.
What to Expect
Once you arrive at Wat Traimit, you'll need to purchase an admission ticket to enter the temple. Visitors are required to dress modestly and remove their shoes before entering the temple building. The highlight of the temple is the stunning gold Buddha statue, which weighs over 5 tons and stands at nearly 16 feet tall. Visitors are not allowed to touch the statue, but they can take photos from a distance.
