How do they even keep score in basketball?
In basketball, the objective is to score more points than the opposing team. A team scores points by shooting the basketball through the opposing team's hoop or basket. The scoring system is fairly simple:
- Each successful shot within the three-point line is worth two points.
- Each successful shot beyond the three-point line is worth three points.
- Each successful free throw, which is awarded after certain types of fouls, is worth one point.
The game is divided into four quarters, each lasting 12 minutes in the NBA. At the end of the game, the team with the most points wins. In the event of a tie, the game goes into overtime, where the first team to score two points more than the other team wins.
