What is the history of the Nazgul?
The Nazgul, also known as the Ringwraiths, are one of the most iconic and terrifying villains in J.R.R. Tolkien's epic fantasy series, The Lord of the Rings. They were once nine kings of Men who were given Rings of Power by the Dark Lord Sauron in an attempt to enslave them and turn them into his most powerful servants.
Over time, the Rings corrupted the kings and transformed them into the Nazgul, ghostly beings who were completely enslaved to Sauron's will. They became his most fearsome servants and were tasked with hunting down the One Ring and bringing it back to him.
The Nazgul's history is a tragic one. Once great and powerful kings, they were ultimately corrupted and destroyed by their lust for power and Sauron's influence. Their existence is a testament to the corrupting influence of power and the dangers of giving into temptation.
