The temperature of the sun's core is estimated to be around 15 million degrees Celsius (27 million degrees Fahrenheit). This incredible temperature is what allows the sun to produce the enormous amount of energy that it does through nuclear fusion. At the core of the sun, hydrogen atoms are squeezed together under extreme pressure and temperature to form helium, releasing an enormous amount of energy in the process. This energy then travels outwards, eventually reaching the surface of the sun and providing the heat and light that we receive on Earth.
While the temperature of the sun's core is incredibly high, it's important to note that the temperature decreases as you move outwards from the core. In fact, the temperature at the surface of the sun, known as the photosphere, is only around 5,500 degrees Celsius (9,932 degrees Fahrenheit), which is still incredibly hot, but much cooler than the core.
