What's the difference between a senator and a representative?

A senator and a representative are both members of the legislative branch of the US government, but they have different roles and responsibilities. There are 100 senators in the US Senate, and each state has two senators, regardless of its population. Representatives, on the other hand, are members of the House of Representatives, which has 435 members. The number of representatives each state has is based on its population, with more populous states having more representatives.

Senators serve six-year terms, while representatives serve two-year terms.
